The investigation is continuing after the fire at Limoges town hall on 17 October 2026, which broke out on the sidelines of a mobilisation. Two suspects were arrested this week.

The prosecutor’s office told Agence France-Presse on Friday 23 October 2026 that a judicial investigation has been opened, including for attempted homicide against a police officer and for destruction. At the end of this first stage, prosecutors requested provisional detention for the two people under investigation.

The Limoges court complex was also closed to the public on Friday for security reasons, the court said. No further detail was given on what prompted that decision.
